Nasarawa United FC technical adviser, Coach Bala Nikyu has said that the breakfast the state governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule had with the team and the largess given to them was to boost the boys’ morale ahead of the November 3, commencement date of the 2019/2929 Nigeria Professional Football League season.

The former U-17 coach in an exclusive interview with Instant Africa sports revealed that winning Ahlan cup preseason tournament was not the ultimate but that it is a preparation towards the bigger one; challenge cup and the league trophy.

According to him,, “Before we were hosted to a breakfast by our amiable governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, o had already told the players that winning the preseason tournament was not the ultimate rather it is a build up to the challenge cup and the league proper.

“What His Excellency did was to just to boost their moral in anticipation of rewarding them in a bigger way if we can win the challenge cup and or the league trophy, “he said.

Instant Africa sports reports that Gov. Sule gave out N15million to both Nasarawa united and Amazon. N5million each goes to the players of rge two clubs; while N2million goes to the technical crew of each club and N1million was given to the supporters club.

When asked what was the magic he use in winning the Ahlan cup after the team survived legation last season, he said, “I don’t think there was anything like magic, what I think was responsible was the fact that we treat our players like family members. You know when you love them, you care for them and let them know that their problems are yours too whenever you give any of them the opportunity to play they will want to justify the trust you repose on them, that’s it,” Coach Nikyu opined.

Emmanuel Makama in action for club

However, the team captain, Emmanuel Makama revealed that, the boys are in high spirit ahead of the 2019/2020 league season, stressing that they have got what it takes to top the league table again.

He disclosed to instant Africa sports that the reason for their new found form, was the fact that they are with the right hands. “We are very happy here in camp because our technical crew have given us reason to be happy always as such we are ready to give our best any time we are call upon,” he said.
