Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege
An intellectual working group, known as Democracy Evolutionary Society, DES, has recommended Sen. Ovie Omo Agege for the 9th senate for the post of deputy senate president, advising the law makers to give him the necessary support to ascend to the office.
In a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja and signed by the Country Director of the group, Comrade Joseph Amakpor, it noted that of other contenders of the coveted seat, Sen. Omo-Agege seems most suitable, adding that, baring all sentiments, he is just the best. Sen. Omo-Agege, DES further argues, as an All Progressive Congress’s APC stalwart, is politically entitled to the post not only for his experience which, we have noted, he has but also for his altruism and track record.
‘’Sen. Omo Agege stands out in terms of the traits needed for such a position. He is most innately articulate, intelligent, meticulous and courageous, to deliver on assigned responsibilities even under a most challenging circumstance. He has the tact also to rein on most intractable legislators to buy in group plan for success.
When it comes to capacity to steer the senate in the right direction, he is qualified. He is fluent and experienced. Both traits are most his trump card which however underpinned his re-election. Re-call how he bested his detractors, those that plotted to suspend him on phantom charges in the current senate. He is good for the job” the statement reads
“It will therefore be in the best interest of APC and Nigerians to elect the person of the calibre of Omo Agege as Deputy Senate President in the 9th Senate”. The statement added
“But above all, in the spirit of equity, fairness and justice, the south- south geopolitical zone deserves the position of deputy president of the senate in the current power equation. This is in addition to the Federal Character principle which prescribes equitable distribution of political offices to ensure that no part of the country dominates or is left out. If these rules are followed with fidelity, south-south, having very few number of APC senators, will no doubt narrow it down to Omo Agege who the cap fits from our assessment”, the statement concluded.
