An Abuja based socialite and philanthropist, Dr. Stella Agbim, has stated her commitment to empower youths, widows and the vulnerable in the country in order to contribute her quota towards reducing crime, hunger and social vices in the society.
Dr. Agbim who made this assertion during the official opening ceremony of a beauty and wellness complex known as Royale Hub Total Care, in Abuja, added that she is out to assist the jobless and those who cannot help themselves through skill acquisition especially in the areas of pastries and skincare and wide range of beauty services.
“The principal goal of opening this complex is to make this place a center of excellence for training of the vulnerable population such as the youths, widows and all those who may be interested acquiring skills for their wellbeing. For the youths who are jobless; who do not have anybody to help them, this place is open for them. This place is open for their training and at the end of the day, if they do well, we will give them support for them to move on with their life and be able to set up their own businesses.
“We hope we can help widows who I am one of them set up things to look after their children and families. My experience as a widow is an eye opener. Before I become a widow, I did not know that there are a lot of people suffering untold hardship. But losing my husband four years ago exposed me to a lot of things people are passing through, especially in the rural areas.
“I had the opportunity of coming face-to-face with the vulnerable people; widows that cannot afford a shelter under their heads. No food; a lot of them have children who are out of school. We want to use this opportunity to address such issues within our capacity.
Dr. Agbim used the occasion to appeal to government, private sector and well-meaning individuals to partner with her so as to tackle poverty in the society.
