Centre for Media Advocacy (CMA), a civil-society and pro-human rights advocacy group, has passed a vote of confidence on the proactive and patriotic leadership of the Commandant-General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu. This is for re-jigging the security architecture, mechanism and strategy in manning key critical national assets across the country, as well as the reduction of vandalism of major assets of the communication industry and oil facilities in the country.

In another commendable sweep development was the donation of plots of land by the Etsu Nupe, Chairman, Council of Chiefs in Niger State, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar in Bida, to the NSCDC for the construction of its office. This was made known when the paramount traditional ruler visited the Commandant-General recently and thanked the CG for the patriotic efforts and the reduction of banditry and vandalism in his domainand praised the officers of the corps for their selfless efforts and the seriousness put in place by the men and officers to rid the menace of street urchins and criminalities across the country at the grassroots level and said that the land will be a morale booster to the Corps and to also inspire them and increase the operational base and activities of the NSCDC in Niger State and called on all three tiers of government and stakeholders to come to the aid of the NSCDC so as to support the Corps with logistics and other grants to improve the welfare and condition of service of the personnel for efficient service delivery, emphasizing that “criminals are highly equipped with sophisticated and technological equipment, hence there is a need for the Corps to be fully equipped and empowered with modern technologies to carry out its mandate.”
While receiving the Etsu Nupe, the CG emphasized on the synergy between the security agencies in the country and called on Nigerians to always collaborate and give the security agencies the needed information to carry out their duties effectively as the security of lives and property cannot be left in the hands of the security agencies alone but a collective responsibility of all.
In a press release by the Organization’s Executive Director, Comrade Dennis Esumobi and Director, Media, Comrade Gabriel Gwajime respectively, the organization applauded and commended the NSCDC for the patriotism, selflessness and the counter-mechanism put in place by the leadership to reduce the menace of vandalism and criminals across the length and breadth of the country.
They also commended the recent deployment of heavy personnel of the Corps for the security during the Sallah celebrations across the country and gave a pat on the shoulder of the top echelon of the leadership for the marching orders and directives to state commandants that all hands must be on deck to stem the activities of criminals and re-jig its operations to confirm with today’s mechanism of combating criminal elements in the society and called on Nigerians to support the tremendous efforts of the NSCDC by providing them with intelligence and logistic support to boost its operations across the country and also used the occasion to wish the Muslim faithful across the country a happy Eid-el-Fitri.
