It was a moment of mix feelings, when on Saturday the pioneer President of Likeminds Football Club of Utako, Dr. Eze Nwosu handed over the baton of leadership to his successor, Mr. Richmond Asikpo.
The handover ceremony which proceeded with a novelty football match witnessed a lot of fanfare as Team Richmond defeated Team Eze Nwosu with two un-replied goals. The novelty match played at Likeminds FC training ground, Utako Abuja was in honoured of the outgone executive led my Dr. Eze Nwosu.
The outgone President, Dr. Nwosu in his valedictory speech thanked members for the support they received during their reigned in office and urged members to accord same support to the new executives led by Richmond Asikpo.
“As we hand over to the new executives today (Saturday), I want on behalf of the outgoing executives to thank the entire members of Likeminds FC
“My appreciation goes to Mr. Humphrey led electoral committee for a good job that ushered in new leadership. To the entire members of our great club, I thank all of you for your support and cooperation and for the opportunity given to us to serve, I plead that you extend same to the incoming executives.
“This valedictory speech will not complete if I fail to thank and appreciate the unalloyed co-operation and free hand of our dear former parish priest, Rev. Fr.Chris Bologo during whose tenure Likeminds grew from strength to strength. Also, in a very special way using the privilege of this handing over I want to remember our team manager, Chief Titus Onyeka, our one-time referee, Gabriel Agada, our main goal keeper ; Papa Nwanneoo and Mr. Nwakonobi, these names shall remain very memorable in the heart,” he started.
Responding, the New President, Mr. Asikpo thank members for believing in him and members of his team. He also thanked the electoral committee led by Humprey Akaolisa for conducting a free, fair and transparent election and therefore, promised to keep to the rules of the club while discharging his duty.
Meanwhile, Mr. Asikpo enjoined Prof. Yakubu Mahmud led Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to take a cue from what Mr. Akaolisa led electoral committee has done in Likeminds’ election for an improve subsequent elections in the country.
Recalled that the club was formed in 2014, at Utako primary School before moving to her permanent site at Likeminds training ground.
Mr. Obinna Amoke, thanked the outgone President and his team for a meritoriously service rendered to the club and urged the new exco to take off from where the other stop.
