The players of Nasarawa United Football Club of Lafia have cried out to the state governor, His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi Sule to come to their aid as land grabbers in Karu Local government area of the state have invaded in the plot of lands freely given to them by the state government.
Some of the players who spoke to us under the condition of anonymity said, the only thing they are proud of as players of the solid minerals team was the plot of lands given to them by the former governor of Nasarawa state, Senator Tanko Al-Makura but now that some persons have invaded their land what else can they do if Gov. Sule did not come to their aid.
The Nasarawa state government had in the late 2016 rewarded Nasarawa United players and officials with plots of land and N10m for emerging as the runners-up of the 2016 Federation Cup.
The Lafia club lost 5-4 on penalties to IfeanyiUbah FC in the final of the Federation Cup played in Lagos.
Barely three years after, some persons who are link to the Mararaba high court in Karu local government area of the state, had started putting structures in the land without considering the plight of the players who reserve the land as part of their achievements with the club.

Instant Africa gathered that a certain staff of the Mararaba high court, who was recently transferred to Lafia allegedly sold part of the lands to some persons who are curently building structures in the land including himself.
Also, our investigation shows that a former top officer of the KAPDA who is simply identify as ‘Sani’ is alleged to be part of the squad that is selling the plot of lands belonging to Nasarawa United players.
When we put a call to Sani to found out if the story was true, Sani reacted thus, “Oga hear me, I will not listen to you talk to me like that, that i have invaded the land, what do you mean by that, you are not ready to hear what you want to hear,” he said.
However, we gathered reliably that the chief judge of Nsarawa state, honourable justice Suleiman Dikko has order that nobody should encroach into the land that was given to players with the Right of Occupancy (RoO), but these individuals who are at the corridor of the state judiciary have dared the chief judge and have erected structures there. Meanwhile the players said, these men have no regard for anybody that they are even ready to confront Gov. Sule if he dare want to intervene.
The players however, called on Gov. Sule to act fast in reclaiming their land for them so that it will not distract them in their quest to take the team out from the relegation zone as soon as the league resume from the Coronavirus break.
