The National Directors/Chief Road Traffic Officers of the Federation held the annual conference of the umbrella body of all vehicle Inspection Officers (VIOs) nationwide recently in Abuja.
They reflected and deliberated on various issues affecting Road Traffic Safety on Nigeria roads with a view to finding solutions towards mitigating road crashes with its effect on human lives and property.
Issues that graced the conference include recognizing and awarding personalities that has made consistent and progressive contributions in global demand for road crash reduction.
Among those recognised at the event is Prince Fidelis Nnadi, the founder and Executive Director of Accident Prevention and Rescue Initiative (APRI) whose consistent advocacy for safety of road users got the blessing of the National Body and was inducted into the exalted Special Road Traffic Mayors with additional award as the most vocal and consistent advocate of Road Traffic Safety in Nigeria.
The award was presented to Prince Fidelis Nnadi by Prof. Sydney Ibeanusi, the focal person, United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety.
In his acceptance speech, Prince Fidelis Nnadi who also is the National Consultant for the National Conference of Directors/Chief Road Traffic Officers of the Federation and Director Media and Publicity, Coalition of Road Safety NGOs in Nigeria expressed great appreciation to the National Body but prayed that these double award will motivate him and others of his colleagues in the crusade for safety of road users to be more engaged for greater achievement stressing that Nigerians should adopt and ensure that there will be “No more deaths and injuries on our roads”.
