A Conglomeration of Civil Society Organizations for Peace and Security (ACOSOPS)*, an Abuja-based coalition of civil society groups, wishes to address recent allegations that the Lagos State Government and its security agencies have disobeyed a court order concerning the arrest of activist *Omoyele Sowore*.
In a statement signed by *Comrade James Okoronkwo* and *Mr. Johnson Eze*, the association clarified that *Sowore’s continued incitement and seditious activities pose a serious threat to national security*. These actions, the group emphasized, are *contrary to the rule of law and Nigeria’s democratic values*, and any attempt to portray lawful measures as disobedience is a *misrepresentation of facts*.
ACOSOPS affirmed that the *Lagos State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Jimoh Moshood, a fine and transparent police officer, has acted in accordance with the law*, noting that no arrest has been made since the court’s interim injunction was communicated. The association urged the public to *remain calm and allow the judicial process to run its course*, while reiteriting its commitment to defending the integrity of Nigeria’s security institutions.
The group further warned against *politicizing security matters*, stressing that *national security must take precedence over individual interests*. It called on all stakeholders to *support efforts to maintain peace and order* in the country.
